PTO GENERAL MEETING

August 19, 2010

Meeting was called to order at 9:30am by PTO President: Jennifer Norton.

Introduction of Executive Board Members by Jennifer Norton.

Vice-President Report: Gail Stone

  1. Clinic Report: Nurse Connie suggests that all Braelinn students and staff, continue to practice good hand washing techniques to avoid spreading germs, and to prevent illness.
  2. Academic Fair and Cultural Arts were briefly discussed at this time.

Principal Report: Mrs. Bell

  1. The current student enrollment at Braelinn is at exactly 500 students!
  2. "All Braelinn Visitors" please remember to always stop in the office, sign in, and wear your (sticker) badge. This is an important measure in protecting our kids from potential harm: unauthorized individuals or strangers having access to our students.
  3. Grade Level Information Nights were very successful!
  4. ITBS Testing is coming up!

*Fall Fundraiser: This year Braelinn will will be participating in "BOOSTERTHON Fun Run", instead of Innisbrook. This exciting fundraiser is hassle-free, and teaches a daily character lesson to the kids. We encourage you to visit the website:www.boosterthonoverview.com, if you are interested in getting a preview of all the fun that's coming to Braelinn! More information coming soon!

PTO COMMITTEE CHAIRS:

Commitment Programs: Continue to collect boxtops and send them in! Go on-line to www.reward yourschool.com and register to earn more boxtops for Braelinn! Last year, Braelinn Elementary was 9th in the state of Georgia for highest boxtop totals!

Spirit Wear: All orders are due August 27th.

Script: The 1st order is due next Tuesday, August 24th. There is now an on-line ordering system available.

Vision Screening: Susan Price needs more volunteers.

School Directory: They are currently being processed. Any address, phone number, or other changes need to be made before copies are finalized.

Spirit Nights: The first Spirit Night will be held on Tuesday, August 24th at Starr's Mill Chik-fil-a.

Academic Fair: Needs a Chairperson.

Book Fair: Needs more volunteers.

Cafe Team: Needs more volunteers.

Consignment Sale: Needs more donations!

Courtyard: Senoia Garden Center~donating items to Braelinn. Need umbrella donations! Over the summer, much work was done(replacing birdfeeders, pulling many weeds,etc.) and the improvements are amazingly evident.

Historian: Send in pictures!

Holiday Festival: Needs Chairperson.

Landscaping: Need more helpers~Jacinda Thomsen will need a replacement as Chairperson for next year.

Lead Room Parent: Date for meeting not yet established.

Media Center: Needs volunteers from 12pm-1pm: Media Center will not be open during this time without volunteers to help.

Newcomers Coffee: Information to come~ Tissues and Treats was a success!

Web Page & Newsletter: Marie Sligh will be making updates to the web page 2-3 times per week.

Original Works: No new business.

Playground: New kickball field in place~complete with backstop and fence.

Publicity: Marla Chandler will be attending a meeting at the county office next week, where her responsibilities and duties will be explained. She will have an update at next month's meeting.

Santa Shoppe: No new business.

School Board Rep: Spring Variety Show needs chairperson.

Staff Appreciation: September 29th will be the first Staff Appreciation event~ there will be "4" in total this year. Michelle Hamilton would appreciate any help available!

Treasurer Report: LuAnn Parker

The 2010-2011 Proposed Budget was voted on, and unanimously approved!
