Rainbows<< Return to Counseling main page MISSION:To provide curricula and training for establishing peer support groups for children, adolescents and adults who are grieving due to death, divorce, or painful transition in their family. What is it?Rainbows is a group grief support program for children. The group meets once a week, during school time for about 45 minutes. The program lasts for 12 weeks. Children who might benefit from the program are children who have experienced the death of a loved one, divorce, or other painful transitions in their family. Children who attend Rainbows learn how to deal with difficult feelings. The focus of the Rainbows program is on feelings and learning effective and safe ways to deal with them. The children are grouped by age and grade level. Those who participate in the Rainbows program are never asked to share information that is uncomfortable for them to share. All children who are part of the group will sign a confidentiality pledge stating that if someone does share information about their family, it will not be talked about outside of the group. How can you sign your child up for Rainbows? If you are interested in having your child be a part of Rainbows, click on the link below for a registration form.
