PTO General Board Meeting
March 13, 2008

Meeting began at 7:05 after serving the delicious cake made by Mrs. Diaz. Thank you so much!

Rebecca Bankey opened by welcoming everyone. First item on the agenda was the Tech Check. We have checked several items off of the list for improving technology and are now working on “Student Responders.”

Kay Norton introduced a Little Caesars pizza fundraiser. It was agreed that we should go for it. The cookie dough fundraiser was a big hit.  Even with a small portion of our families participating, the potential

for extra money for technology is huge. Pizza kits will cost approximately $18. It was suggested that we begin this fundraiser on April 23rd and have a quick turnaround for paperwork. Pizza would be delivered to the school a week or so before the summer break.

Mrs. Bell notified parents of some grade level changes happening next year.

             Colston - moving from 4th to 5th

             Norman – moving from 3rd to 2nd

             One opening in Kindergarten

             One opening in third grade

             Three openings in fourth grade

             One opening in ESOL

She also shared some staff news:

Pam Walker had a grandson and lost her father.

             Connie Knowles had a granddaughter.

             Susie Lucsko’s father passed away.

             Ricka Horne’s mother died.

May 14th is the next Newcomer’s Coffee.

Michelle Christensen announced that everyone was gearing up for the CRCT. Others will also be taking the GAA, ESOL testing, 4th and 5th-grade writing assessments. CRCT begins April 16th.

Sarah Trotter was thankful that over $600 was raised for Autism.

March 27th – Kindergarten registration at Braelinn.

Rebecca Bankey announced that several moms at Braelinn will be shopping for school supplies for the fall. These will be for sale in the spring. Braelinn will try to keep the cost of the packages very reasonable and any profit will go back into our school.

Tammy Smith was here to kick off the April 26th Spring Fling! She shared great ideas on activities for the night. There will be a 5th-grade variety show, dinner among friends, games and activities for our children, and Braelinn’s first ever “Kickball Tournament.” She will need many volunteers to help make this night a success. Braelinn would love to have some sponsors for the booths planned – all money raised will help us knock out our Tech Check list.
